Oliver North: Keynote Address
The
CTDA Management Conference will celebrate its 20th anniversary this
November 13-16 at the site of its inaugural meeting at Marriott’s
Grand Hotel Resort, Golf Club, and Spa, in Point Clear Alabama.
We are more than proud to reveal that CTDA has scheduled a true
American hero, Oliver North as the keynote speaker for November.
Many of us watched him on Fox news channel live from the Persian
Gulf. Colonel North’s appearance may become even more memorable
than Dick Cheney’s timely appearance at the 1994 Management Conference,
one that is still remembered by attendees today.
Oliver L. North is a combat decorated Marine, a #1 best-selling
author, the founder of a small business, an inventor with three
U.S. patents, a syndicated columnist, the host of a nationally-syndicated
daily radio show and the host of “War Stories” on the Fox News Channel,
yet claims his most important accomplishment as being “the husband
of one and the father of four.”
North was born in San Antonio, Texas, graduated from the U.S. Naval
Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and served 22 years as a U.S.Marine.
His awards for service in combat include the Silver Star, the Bronze
Star for valor and two Purple Hearts for wounds in action.
Assigned to the National Security Council Staff in the Reagan administration,
Colonel North was the United States government’s Counter-Terrorism
Coordinator from 1983-1986 and was involved in planning the rescue
of medical students on the Island of Grenada and played a major
role in the daring capture of the hijackers of the cruise ship Achille
Lauro. After helping plan the U.S. raid on Muammar Gaddafi’s terrorist
bases in Libya, North was targeted for assassination by Abu Nidal,
one of the world’s deadliest assassins.
Oliver North broadcasts his nationally syndicated Common Sense
Radio, Monday-Friday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time, from the studios
of Radio America in Washington, D.C. Additionally, his award-winning
weekly documentary, “War Stories” airs each Sunday night on the
FOX News Channel.
His first two books, Under Fire and One More Mission were
international best sellers. His latest book, Mission Compromised
also rose to the New York Times best seller list. North is also
the founder of Freedom Alliance, a foundation which provides scholarships
for the sons and daughters of service members killed in action.
Make your plans early to be a part of this important celebration!

Al Bates: Company Performance Report
One
of CTDA's most popular speakers, Al Bates from the Profit Planning
Group has proven expertise in a number of financial and management
fields and he will once again present the annual CTDA Company Performance
Report.
The report, compiled confidentially from responses of ceramic tile
distributors across the country, gives you a clear and concise view
of the financial strengths and weaknesses of the ceramic tile distribution
industry.
But thats not all! Financial challenges that arise in a downturn
economy are challenging. This session will distinguish between actions
that really help and those that only make a difficult situation
worse. Identify draining cash traps - inventory and accounts receivable,
and slam the door on expenses - focusing on areas where reductions
are possible without sacrificing customer service.
By participating in the PROFIT survey, you will receive two very
useful management tools that compare your results with your peers:
PROFIT IMPROVEMENT PROFILE analyzes and compares your company's
profitability and financial ratios to your peers and focuses on
your company's three weakest areas, tells you how to improve those
areas and shows results that could be achieved if the plan is implemented.
The PROFIT TOOL KIT is a diskette sent with your data and the industry
data already included. The program lets you test some "what-if"
changes in your business and immediately see the results.
Participant data will be held strictly confidential by Profit Planning
Group. Profit Planning Group has conducted similar surveys for more
than twenty organizations and have an unblemished record of confidentiality.

exclusive nature to distributors. It is a time to share your successes
and your failures and take home a few new ideas to implement. And
best of all, the forum is scheduled so you wont miss out on
a single afternoon leisure activity!
This year's session will take place immediately following the Friday
morning business session with two topics selected for discussion
in roundtable groups and results presented to the whole. Topics
will be chosen by participants prior to the conference.
